The standard material for all bearing rings and balls In RotoPrecision miniature and instrument ball bearings is 400 series martensitic stainless steel.

For non-corrosive or extremely noise sensitive applications, 52100 chrome bearing steel can be specified.

Many other materials and coating options exist for specialized situations, the most common of these is the substitution of ceramic balls which provides greater stiffness, longer life and lower operating temperatures at high speeds.
